SUCCESS! OUR FIRST JOINT-INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The Principal, Cikgu Pengiran Zahari, who is also the Honorary Commissioner for both troops, gave positive comments on the harmony and positive movement of both troop members. He also commented on the many good comments he has heard about SOAS College scouts and thanks the hard-working teachers as well as those involved in making it a success. Support will always be granted for such educational and youth-development activities.
The Principal also had the honor of handing out badges for the new members, with the world scout badge. It was a truly honorable and unforgettable moment for the young scouts.
Also in the ceremony was the "Acceptence of new Venture Scouts". Five new boy scouts were accepted as new venture scouts, with a short ceremony witnessed by parents and teachers. The new ventures will undergo the Venture Award Scheme and aim for the Sultan Scout Award.
The organizers would like to thank Scouts and Skippers from, SM Masin, SM Berakas, SM PAP Masnah, Parents and Teachers, District Commission and State Commission for making it all possible.

SOAS Air Scouts Honors the Sultan on his Majesty's 62nd Birthday
Every year, Brunei Scouts gets invited to the Palace to meet the King. Its usually the 3rd. day of His Majesty's Birthday. During the dinner, other uniform bodies in the country, were also present. For the new members of Troop 1002, it was a memorable occasion where they sit amongst the countries elite, have a deliciuos dinner fit for a king and gets the chance to see the Sultan in person. Some were lucky enough to have a light conversation with the Sultan. The students were rewarded with such an occasion after their hard work participating in variuos services during the Sultan's Birrthday Parade on the 15th July.

SOAS COLLEGE SCOUTS HOIST FLAG TO HONOR SULTAN BIRTHDAY
It was attended by senior citizens from Mukim Kianggeh in a effort to rekindle the old spirit of celebration, as well as demonstrate their loyalty to their ruler.
Penghulu Hj Lutfi said the senior citizens chose to participate in the mukim's flag hoisting ceremony to revive old memories when they hoisted the flag during their youth days. "They wanted to show today's youths that they used to hoist the national flag many years ago when they were young.
"They did not have the same facility as the youths have now and they tied the national flag to a bamboo and raised the bamboo up," he said.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was conducted by members of the scouts association from Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College in the capital to the tune of the national anthem.
Led by Skip Zakaria Hj Md Noor and their supervising teacher Cikgu Azri, some 15 members of the school's scout association hoisted the flag witnessed by SCC Skip Hj Badar and Penghulu Hj Lutfi.

VENTURE LEADERSHIP COURSE 2008
According to Junaidi Hj Hussin, head of venture scouts leadership course, the scouts were given a task the night before to produce a mini model of the tower they were randomly assigned to.

Air Scouts Service at STEP Science Camp 2008
This is the second science camp organised by the STEP Centre, Ministry of Education, a joint venture with Brunei Shell Sdn Bhd and hosted by the Masin Secondary School. It aims to increase awareness amongst the students on the importance of science subject, to increase the students' interests and motivation, to make science learning fun, to instill teamwork and to strengthen the relationships between the participants. - Coutesy of Borneo Bulletin
