SUCCESS! OUR FIRST JOINT-INVESTITURE CEREMONY

Every year, our troop honors their new members by having their investiture ceremony. Different troop usually hold one seperately. But this year, two troops held one jointly in strengthening stronger brotherhood. It was the first of its kind and so far it sets a good example to other visiting troops.

The Principal, Cikgu Pengiran Zahari, who is also the Honorary Commissioner for both troops, gave positive comments on the harmony and positive movement of both troop members. He also commented on the many good comments he has heard about SOAS College scouts and thanks the hard-working teachers as well as those involved in making it a success. Support will always be granted for such educational and youth-development activities.
The Principal also had the honor of handing out badges for the new members, with the world scout badge. It was a truly honorable and unforgettable moment for the young scouts.

Also in the ceremony was the "Acceptence of new Venture Scouts". Five new boy scouts were accepted as new venture scouts, with a short ceremony witnessed by parents and teachers. The new ventures will undergo the Venture Award Scheme and aim for the Sultan Scout Award.

The organizers would like to thank Scouts and Skippers from, SM Masin, SM Berakas, SM PAP Masnah, Parents and Teachers, District Commission and State Commission for making it all possible.

SOAS COLLEGE SCOUTS HOIST FLAG TO HONOR SULTAN BIRTHDAY

Mukim Kianggeh held a national flag hoisting ceremony yesterday afternoon in conjunction with the 62nd birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The event was held at the residence of the Penghulu of Mukim Kianggeh, Hj Lutfi bin Hj Abd Halim in Kg Telanai, Jalan Tutong. The ceremony was officiated by Skip Hj Awg Badar bin Hj Awg Ali, the Scout Chief Commissioner (SCC) of Scouts Association of Brunei Darussalam.
It was attended by senior citizens from Mukim Kianggeh in a effort to rekindle the old spirit of celebration, as well as demonstrate their loyalty to their ruler.
Penghulu Hj Lutfi said the senior citizens chose to participate in the mukim's flag hoisting ceremony to revive old memories when they hoisted the flag during their youth days. "They wanted to show today's youths that they used to hoist the national flag many years ago when they were young.
"They did not have the same facility as the youths have now and they tied the national flag to a bamboo and raised the bamboo up," he said. The flag-hoisting ceremony was conducted by members of the scouts association from Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College in the capital to the tune of the national anthem. Led by Skip Zakaria Hj Md Noor and their supervising teacher Cikgu Azri, some 15 members of the school's scout association hoisted the flag witnessed by SCC Skip Hj Badar and Penghulu Hj Lutfi.
